Internet Easter Eggs

So a few weeks ago we were introduced to a new concept called an internet easter egg, i had no idea what this was. As part of this assignment we were asked to research the meaning of an internet easter egg and find 10 of them.

What is an internet easter egg?
An internet easter egg is an intentional hidden message or joke that is built in to a website, computer programme or anything online.

Here are 10 examples of internet easter eggs:

1. FIND CHUCK NORRIS: when you type in "find chuck norris" into a google search and click on the first search result that reads 'chuck norris-google search' this is what comes up

2. CHICKEN DANCE: this is a funny one. If you enter 2204355 into your google search and click 'I'm feeling lucky' the screen will go black and a video comes up of a colourful background with a guy dancing while holding two chicken drummets

3. LAST PAGE OF THE INTERNET: have you ever wondered whether the internet ever came to an end? well someone out there had the thought when they created this cool easter egg

4. ZERG RUSH: if you type in the words 'zerg rush' into your google search bar and click enter when the search results come up you will see a bunch of google o's eating up your page and when its done it will all go to the centre of the page and form a 'GG'

5. 404 BROKEN LINKS: The 404 or Page Not Found error message is a standard response code that tells users that they've reached a dead or broken link such as the south park 404 error

6. WIKIPEDIA: if you type in 'easter egg (media)' into the search bar of the wikipedia website this is what you will see this...

...if you look at the picture of the rabbit on the right hand side of the page and hover your curser over the hedgehog it will tell you that it is sitting on a basket of easter eggs that look like this...

7. KONAMI CODE: is a cheat code that appears in many Konami video games and looks like this....

 

 

 

 

8. GOOGLE BEATBOX: go to google translate and type in  "pv zk bschk pv zk pv bschk zk pv zk bschk pv zk pv bschk zk bschk pv bschk bschk pv kkkkkkkkkkkk bschk" and then set the language to translate from German to Filipino and then click the little speaker at the bottom called the beatbox. Make sure your volume is on loud

9. EPIC GOOGLE: if you type in epic google into the google search bar and click I'm feeling lucky, this picture would come up and begin zooming in.

10. HARLEM SHAKE: if you type in "do the harlem shake" into the You tube search bar and click search, the harlem shake song will play and the screen will 'dance'.
